With a dedicated team of 130 employees operating out of 9 strategically located fire stations, fire administration, and a fire prevention bureau, we respond to more than 20,000 calls each year. As an all-hazard, all-risk department, we are equipped to handle medical emergencies, fire suppression, hazardous materials incidents, technical rescues, and natural disasters. The Roseville Fire Department is an all risk all hazard fire department. The department currently operates out of nine fire stations and serves a growing community of over 150,000 residents. The operations division is staffed with a total of 111 suppression personnel spread across three shifts. In 2024, the department responded to 20,368 calls for service.
The department has a cross staffed Hazardous Materials Task Force, Rescue Task Force and Tactical Medic program. There are a number of specialty programs and collateral assignments available to those interested. The Roseville Fire Department is a non-transporting agency.
The City offers a generous benefits package with a salary for Firefighter Paramedic I/II from $96,296 up to $151,896 (this top salary step includes 22.5% pay incentives). To learn more about the benefits please visit here.
Successful candidates must possess a combination of the qualifications outlined in the job specifications found here.
These qualifications may include the following special licenses and certificates*:
- Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth (12th) grade, GED, or higher level degree.
- Possession of a valid California Class C driver’s license or higher (Class B or A) by date of appointment. A Firefighter endorsement is required by completion of the Roseville Fire Department Training Academy.
- Possession of a California Paramedic License or current National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) Paramedic Certificate by date of appointment.
- Possession of a Sierra-Sacramento Valley EMS Agency (SSV) accreditation by date of completion of the Roseville Fire Department Training Academy.
- Possession of a valid CPAT (Candidate Physical Ability Test) card by date of appointment. Information regarding the test is available here.
AND
- Possession of a California Firefighter I Certificate as issued by the California Office of the State Fire Marshal (OSFM).
OR
- Possession of a California Firefighter I Certificate of Completion from a California Office of the State Fire Marshal (OSFM) Accredited Fire Academy conducted by an Accredited Local Academy (ALA) or an Accredited Regional Training Program (ARTP).
AND
Possession of a California Firefighter I Certificate issued by the California Office of the State Fire Marshal (OSFM) within one year of date of appointment.
OR
- Candidates from out of state in possession of Firefighter I certification from an outside entity must meet current reciprocity with California State Fire Training.
AND
Possession of a California Firefighter I Certificate issued by the California Office of the State Fire Marshal (OSFM) within one year of date of appointment.
Firefighter Paramedic II candidates, in addition to the qualifications for Firefighter Paramedic I, must possess two years of experience as a paid full time Paramedic at the rank of Firefighter or above with an urban/suburban agency providing services similar to those of the City of Roseville Fire Department.
